I did some checking on these figures, and what I don't like about this graph is that it represents new expenditures only.

Take this analysis from the same source (http://www.ntu.org/pdf/P0801Obama_Analysis.pdf).

M. Iraq – Withdrawal:
“All Combat Troops Redeployed by 2009: Barack Obama would immediately begin redeploying
American troops from Iraq. The withdrawal would be strategic and phased, directed by military
commanders on the ground and done in consultation with the Iraqi government. Troops would be
removed from secure areas first, with troops remaining longer in more volatile areas. The
drawdown would begin immediately with one to two combat brigades redeploying each month
and all troops engaged in combat operations out by the end of next year.”

Cost: Unknown.

Note: Depending on how long it will take to complete the demobilization, and where and
how the troops are re-deployed, this may or may not have significant savings.

May or may not have significant savings? I'm not sure if that represents a fair analysis.

Besides, if Obama wants to put $100 billion into healthcare and $30 billion into education, science, and research, then I'm all for them.
