Being poor makes anyone want to go on the public dole

This is what McCain is referring to as Obama's "pledge." From the NY Times:

Last year, Mr. Obama sought an advisory ruling with the Federal Election Commission to see whether the campaign could opt out of public financing in the primary and accept it in the general election. It was merely an inquiry, he said, not a pledge to accept the financing.

Ridiculous, Obama is pulling in a million dollars a day, and he's supposed to knee-cap himself because he made an inquiry? McCain needs to worry more about shaking a few bucks out of his moribund party than trying to get Obama to "play fair." The republicans are going to try and use every nasty trick in the book to tear him apart the same way they did Gore and Kerry, so why should Obama give up his money advantage?

Davegator and Walker, have you donated to McCain yet? No complaining about public financing if you are not willing to pitch in privately!

The key issue here is not who takes and who doesn't take public money. It is whether Obama keeps his word. Personally, I would like to see neither take any money. McCain screwed up campaign finance reform so badly that he may be paying the price when Obama scoops up multi million from the PACS , 527's and his millions of rabid fans.
The rich dem elitists in Hollywood and Manhattan will find ways to funnel tons of money to Obama... and under current law that is their right. And I do not have to contribute in order to have a say in this matter. If you want to follow that logic then you have no right to talk against the war because you did not wear a uniform in IRAQ. The beauty of democracy is that we have the right to have these opinions whether we have earned it or not. Hell, you can be illiterate, an ex felon and a truely rotten slime ball... and we still let you vote ( ie have a say in how things a run in this country).
