Watch the Polar Ice Cap Expand and Retract.....Expand and Retract...

It's amazing...the polar ice cap....within a few short years, it can either grow 20% in size....or shrink 20% in size....it kind of goes back and forth, you know?

Almost like its independent of Co2 gases in the atmosphere?

"THE melting of sea ice at the North Pole may be the result of a centuries-old natural cycle and not an indicator of man-made global warming, Scottish scientists have found.

After researching the log-books of Arctic explorers spanning the past 300 years, scientists believe that the outer edge of sea ice may expand and contract over regular periods of 60 to 80 years. This change corresponds roughly with known cyclical changes in atmospheric temperature.

The finding opens the possibility that the recent worrying changes in Arctic sea ice are simply the result of standard cyclical movements, and not a harbinger of major climate change.

The amount of sea ice is currently near its lowest point in the cycle and should begin to increase within about five years."

Another fun fact: do you know that there has also been a measurable, albeit tiny, average temperature rise on Mars too in recent years? Does my gas-guzzling Isuzu Rodeo somehow also contribute to rising temperatures on adjacent planets? If so, we really do have a problem.
Maybe its MANBEARPIG??!!!!

When I worked at Compaq, I got to know lots of computer programmers from sharing cigs on the secret smoking porches scattered throughout the complex... Most of them opted for no health coverage because they wanted to pocket the cash, they had not been sick in years, and they had no dependents. I personally thought it was too risky, but if you're here on a work visa for a few years, and health insurance costs thousands per year, and you live near a brand new ER... Why get the coverage? By the time you get properly billed for the services you did receive, you might have already gone back to India or Europe, etc.

Spend your savings at the Kelvin Arms with Chad and Mark and friends (can you tell how jealous I am?!?) and have a good old time throwing back some barley pops.

Maybe you just aren't aware of the tech contractor underground labor market? Or maybe things have changed in the last 6 years? Probably a little of both. Or maybe I am too tired to type...

I'm sure you are right that these people exist (though I doubt they exist in statistically meaningful numbers), but my point was that by not providing them affordable insurance (Obama) or not mandating that they insure themselves (Clinton), they are gaming the system. As long as they don't get really sick or injured, no one has to pay. But some of them eventually do. Here's an example of what does happen:

Shady IT guy's anus hurts. He should go have it checked out, but he would rather just hope for the best because he doesn't have insurance. 6 months later the symptoms are really bad and he decides this isn't just spicy food.

Turns out he drew the unlucky number: prostrate cancer. The hospital has to treat him, because it has spread in the 6 months and he is going to die. The bill ends up being $250,000. The guy declares bankruptcy, the hospital passes the cost on to us, and we all chip in to pay for it.

With universal health care the dude would have gone to see the doctor, caught it in time, thereby reducing the final costs, and he and his thousands of slacker IT buddies would have been chipping in the whole way, reducing costs for everyone.
