I remember when we had one choice for cable news, CNN. Well before Rupert Murdock and Roger Ailes started Fox News and rearranged the playing field, I used to bemoan the fact that CNN had such a pronounced left-wing bias. It always has and always will.
The picture to the left is why Fox News was needed and why it serves a purpose today. The picture to the left was the cast of the show THE CAPITAL GANG which used to cover events in Washington daily for the cable network. Look at it closely. Notice the faces. Let's examine them closely. We have, starting top-left to right....
Mark Shields, who once worked for Democratic senators William Proxmire and Robert Kennedy..... Bill Press, who was once Chair of the California Democratic Party... Margaret Carlson, a lifelong liberal who once was the editor of the New Republic.... then, we have... Robert Novak, aka "The Prince of Darkness", a true old-school journalist, who although a conservative, does not and never has had any overt-partisan affiliations.... and Kate O'Brien, who is also a conservative and who once worked for Independent US Senator James Buckley of New York.....
Let's see, we have three panelist with not only strong left-wing leanings BUT ALSO extensive Democratic party affiliations... and two conservative panelists with right-wing leanings but zero Republican party affiliations.......
That's why Fox News was neeeded.....

I do not particularly disagree with any of this. Just as an aside, saw the Capital Gang reunited on Tim Russert today. It was fun.
I am sorry but Novak is a hack.
