Step right up and win a teddy bear for the pretty lady!

I would like to make the following challenge. Before going any further, you have to promise, as a man or woman of honor, that you will not cheat. Anyone who has posted or commented on this blog and does not play is a big fat weenie.

Ready.........scroll down.......

Ok, in the next 15 seconds, list John McCain's legislative accomplishments on a piece of paper or desktop note, OTHER than McCain-Feingold (which everyone knows about and all republicans hate anyway.) Write down the legislative accomplishments on a piece of paper and describe them in specific terms and detail. Take what you've written, and post it in the comments section, without editing, and WITHOUT doing any kind of research to jog your memory, add specifics, bill names, details etc.

If you are a Hillary supporter, do the same. But it has to be legislative accomplishments. As in, bills passed while in Senate.

I call this the What's Up Kirk Watson challenge. Anyone can play. My results are posted. Do NOT look at other people's comments before writing down and posting your own. That would be cheating too. Obama supporters are exempt from doing this if they have been rehearsing their answers, like, ahem, Jenny and I have after the Kirk pratfall....

Besides McCain-Feingold, I am only vaguely aware that he was a major sponsor of Bush's failed immigration reform plan, and maybe he was heavily involved in No Child Left Behind?

I honestly can't tell you anything else he has done, though I know he has sponsored and co-sponsored many many bills.

Okay Mark, you achieved a GOTCHA.

And I, for one, am even big enough to admit failing the What's Up Chris Matthews challenge by being unable to recite anything passed in the Senate except NCLB and endless war appropriations... and let's not forget all the time spent on confirmation hearings for Bush appointees and then hearings about the subsequent antics of said appointees.

(And of course there have been other distractions created by Bush, such as, Just How Much Lead is he going to let into our drinking Water??)

To be honest, the main piece of legislation we follow is the maintenance of CRA,the Community Reinvestment Act, which should remain intact under Clinton or Obama. In our household we call it "Democratic Air Cover" for my husband Steve's activities.

Wait, wait Steve is chiming in to say that Hillary was responsible for the creation of the CDFI fund, which provides capital and tax credits for the work among the poor of nonprofit Community Development Financial Institutions. It has provided significant support to over 100,000 families allowing them to purchase their first home or start a family business.

(This was during Bill's administration. So I know that technically that does fit your test criteria --Alison)

Steve -- Because it was a pet project of Hillary's, the fund has suffered significant cuts at the hands of Republicans these past seven years.

Alison & Steve Fairfield

Post script: let folks post Ron Paul's legislative accomplishments if they are so inclined.

Oops -- I meant to type "does not fit your test criteria"

Too many to name. You can't be arguing that Obama has even close to the experience that McCain has...

But Oso, you didn't take the quiz! Did you really have "too many to mention" at the top of your head? If you did I salute you. Some people do follow the workings of congress closely and I think that is great.

You cannot expect us to believe this, though, unless you demonstrate it. You have to understand that we do not accept the superiority of your candidate as a given, as shocking as that may seem. (But of course I acknowledge that McCain has way more experience than Obama. He is 25 YEARS OLDER!)

The point of the challenge was to give people a little sympathy for poor, clueless Kirk Watson, and remind us that sometimes all of us are not as smart and informed as we think we are.
